Monte Amiata

The Monte Amiata resort is located in the Italian province of Siena in the Toscana region (provincia di Siena regione Toscana). There are 10 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. 8 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1370 and 1738 meters above sea level.

Mount Amiata with its 1738 meters in height is an ancient volcano covered with the largest beech forest in Europe. 8 lifts climb 10 km of ski slopes; 12 slopes with an automated snowmaking system form a ski area located at key points on the mountain: Vetta, Prato delle Macinai, Prato della Contessa, Shelter Cantoré and Pian della Marsiliana.

The trails and lifts reach the summit, which offers breathtaking views of the Sienese hills, the Maremma and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

For cross-country skiing, there are 4 loops for 10.5 km, of which 5.5 km are constantly maintained in perfect condition. The route Marsiliana – Machinae passes through a magnificent beech forest, its 4.5 km are suitable for skiers with a good technical level.

For excursions in fresh snow, there is a 5 km forest road leading to the First Shelter. On snowshoes, you can climb to the top both during the day and at night. A snow park has recently been created along the Marsilian slope and bobsleigh track; and a 200-meter snow tubing trail starts from the Kantoré chairlift.

Monte Amiata Ski Resort is located in the municipalities of Abbadia San Salvatore (near Siena) and Castel del Piano (Grosseto). The famous Baths of San Filippo are located about twenty kilometers away.
