The Oropa – Biella resort is located in the Italian province of Biella in the Piemonte region (provincia di Biella regione Piemonte). There are 6 km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. 2 ski lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1206 and 2388 meters above sea level.

The Monte Mucrone cable car, which starts from the square behind the New Basilica of Oropa and leads to the lake of the same name and the Pusancano ski slope, is the successor of the first ski lift, built in Italy in 1926, and then the highest cable car in Europe. The current cable car was built in 1961 and will take you to an altitude of 1900 meters in 7 minutes. From the top cable car station, you can directly access the Savoy orphanage, 10 minutes before the Rosazza and an hour before the Renata hut on Monte Camino.

These 2 shelters are the starting points of many ski ascent routes towards Monte Mucrone, Monte Rosso, Valle Elvo or Fontenemore, the most classic connection to the Gressoney Valley. The Monte Rosso Circular Race is held annually in March, an important ski mountaineering competition organized by Buffarola di Cossila. From the moment the cable car arrives at the upper station, it is easy to reach Lake Mukrone in a quarter of an hour, a basin of glacial origin located between the Mukrone Mountains and Mount Rosso. From the same height, you can take the cable car to Monte Camino, which will take you to the Serralunga slope at an altitude of 2390 meters, and from where interesting off-piste skiing begins.

The 5 km long cross-country skiing loop runs through the meadows and forests of Monte d’Oropa. The Lac di Bose waterfall offers ice climbers a wonderful 80 m long climb that can be reached from the Pusancano slope. Skiing in Oropa allows you to combine sports and discover the artistic and architectural beauties of Sacro Monte, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, due to its proximity to Biella, just 10 minutes away by car, Oropa offers all the services and entertainment of the city, including a wide range of hotels.
