Ski holidays in Italy originated in the Piedmont region, and the resort of Bardonecchia was one of the first ski resorts in the country! It is located right on the border with France, near the Del Freus tunnel. Today Bardonecchia is one of the ten best and most progressive Italian resorts with excellent quality snow. The resort is updated every year in accordance with the latest achievements in ski technology.
Since most of the slopes are directed to the north or northwest, the snow lies here much longer than other resorts. The Bardonecchia resort is very popular with snowboarders. Many board lovers from all over the world come here! During the Olympics, snowboarding competitions were even held here.
The resort itself consists of three parts: Melezet, Jaffero and Campo Smith. The latter is great for beginners and intermediate skiers. Campo Smith is the main area where all the basic facilities are located: ski school, restaurants, bars, etc. And the free bus will take you from Campo Smith to Jaffero in just 5 minutes, where the tracks are a little more difficult. This is a great freeride destination with many off-piste opportunities and wide and narrow trails through the forests.
Jaffero has a particularly colorful area, and is ideal for those who like skiing on wide trails in a treeless area. Well, for freestylers one of the best snow parks in the Melezet area is available. The resort itself is located at an altitude of 1312 m with a length of trails of over 100 km (!) And a single ski pass for all ski areas.
Rest in Bardonecchia is a great opportunity to ride in France for little money! The Orelle ski lift leading to the famous French Three Valleys can be reached in just 30 minutes by car.
