The Monte Bue – Santo Stefano d’Aveto resort is located in the Italian province of Genoa in the Liguria region (provincia di Genova regione Liguria). There are 4 km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. 3 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1264 and 1785 meters above sea level.
About 90 kilometers from Genoa, there is the village and resort of Santo Stefano d’Aveto, in a mountainous area dominated by Mount Magjoraska (1809 m) and Mount Bue. Its ski area has two double chair lifts that connect Rocca d’Aveto to the summit of Monte Bue, a drag in Prato Cipolla and two moving walking paths. The downhill skiing slopes descend from 1,774 meters from Monte Bue to 1,264 meters on Rocca d’Aveto and are suitable for intermediate to beginner skiers. A snow park with a jogging track is located in Prato Cipolla, where children can learn to ski. There is also a playground for children next to the Prato Cipolla shelter.
In the future, it is hoped that the Prato Grande ski lift will be rebuilt and thus add the Emilian side, where the snow lasts longer.
For cross-country skiing, there is a 2.5-kilometer ring approved for competition and over 30 kilometers of routes along the ridge of valleys, such as the trails from Caserma del Penna to Re di Coppé (5 km), Penna tour (13 km off-piste), from Pian Pendini to Rio Freddo (2.5 km), from Pian Pendini to Tomarlo al Penna (7 km). There are several routes for ski mountaineering, from the most accessible, such as climbing Monte Crosiglia, to difficult ones, such as Monte Nero, Monte Bue, Monte Magioraska, Groppo Rosso – Chappa Lisia and others. Much attention is paid to the choice of ski mountaineering programs, because in the highlands there are sharp strong winds and significant temperature changes. From the peaks, the gaze penetrates through endless horizons: the entire Alpine arc, the Po valley, the Ligurian Gulf, Corsica and the Tuscan archipelago.
