Prati di Mezzo (Picinisco)

The Prati di Mezzo – Picinisco resort is located in the Italian province of Frosinone region of Lazio (provincia Frosinone regione Lazio). There are 3 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. 2 ski lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1434 and 1556 meters above sea level.

Next to the Abruzzo National Park, on the side of the Lazio region, to be precise, in the Comino Valley, is the small ski resort Prati di Mezzo in the municipality of Picinisco. There are 2 slopes, one with a training slope and the other with a “red” slope, they are served by two lifts. The resort accepts skiers on Saturdays and Sundays; during the week, you can book group or individual training sessions.

After the golden years, when Prati di Mezzo attracted many skiers, now it is trying to recover, since it was closed last year. Its infrastructure (ski lift “La Valletta” with a length of 530 meters with a vertical drop of 45 meters and a second ski lift with a length of 255 meters) has been modernized by the municipal administration and a new hostel has been built. The municipality has a preliminary design for a new cable car that extends up to 2000 meters towards La Metuccia. It is hoped that tourist activities will become popular.

Cross-country skiers close to this area can find a cross-country ski trail laid by the State Forestry, with a length of about 2500 m in the Macchiarvana area, near the town of San Donato Val di Comino and Forca d’Acero (1374 m ) on slopes from 4 to 12 km.

Prati di Mezzo is the ideal starting point for various ski and hiking trails, such as climbing Monte Forcellone (2030 m), from where you can enjoy a vast panorama up to Valle Comino, the Casertano area and views of the Tyrrhenian Sea all the way to the Gulf of Naples with its islands.
