Monte Terminillo

The Monte Terminillo resort is located in the Italian province of Rieti region of Lazio (provincia di Rieti regione Lazio). There are 9.4 km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. 4 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1506 and 1868 meters above sea level.

The small but very cozy resort of Terminillo is located in the Lazio region in central Italy. It got its name from the name of the Monte Terminillo mountain. It is also called Monte Romana, which means Roman mountain. This is due to the fact that the vast majority of tourists come here from Rome, which is only 100 kilometers away. But other major cities in Italy are also close, for example Perugia, 150 km, Ascoli, 130 km, Pescara, 180 km, Rieti, 30 km. Moreover, you can come here either by your own car or by regular buses.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Terminillo was a small settlement lost in the mountains. You could only get here by donkeys or horses. The situation changed with the coming to power of Mussolini. Arriving in these parts, he was so fascinated by the beauty of the outlines of the mountains, as if drawn by the hand of a great artist, green meadows, mild winters and cool summers, that he commissioned to build a luxurious villa here, where he often stayed for long periods. Villa Mussolini is perfectly preserved and is one of the local attractions that the locals will tell you about.

Today, Terminillo is a small town, perfectly clean, well-groomed, surrounded by flowers. Its central street consists of houses, hotels, restaurants, built in the same chalet style, painted in ecological green. There are small family restaurants with homemade local food, wonderful markets with souvenirs and local produce, and organized hiking and horseback riding in the surrounding area. Life is unhurried and measured. That is why tourists from central Italy love to come here not only on vacation, but also on weekends.

Mount Terminillo belongs to the group of the Abbruz Apennines. The lower part of the resort is located at an altitude of 1620 meters above sea level, the upper part is 2105 meters, the vertical drop is 485 meters.
