The Sappada resort is located in the Italian province of Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giuglia region (provincia Udine regione Friuli-Venezia Giuglia). There are 15 km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. 9 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1250 and 2000 meters above sea level.
Sappada village, typical of this part of Italy, as well as a resort, is located between Veneto and Friuli, in the enchanting landscape of the Dolomites. This area is the source of the Piave River.
The ski area is served by different types of lifts transporting skiers to slopes with 20 kilometers of slopes for all types of training. The Col dei Mughi slope and slalom stadium is illuminated every Friday night for night skiing.
Sappada is a family-friendly ski resort: there are boot camps in the city center and the Campetti slopes are perfect for a first downhill ride in life. Children can also have fun at Nevelandia, a well-equipped children’s snow park where they can learn to ski by playing in the snow, ride downhills on rubber boats, on a bobsleigh track, on an ice rink, on a snowmobile track.
The Pian dei Nidi chair lift takes you to Monte Siera and its ski area on one side of the valley, and the shuttle bus will take you to the other side of the resort – Sappada 2000, which is on the other side of the valley, to where 2 chair lifts (Miravalle and Hochbolt) lead to the alpine skiing area and the most difficult red and black slopes. The ski bus is free for all skiers and tourists living in the structures of the consortium.
There are also paved, well-beaten tracks for cross-country skis in the form of rings about 20 kilometers long. They “saw” the training of the greatest Italian champions on “narrow skis”: De Solta, Fauner and Piller Cottrera. In 2001, the track hosted the Italian cross-country skiing championship.
You can take a snowmobile excursion in the direction of Passo Digola, Pian del Sire and Sauris. There are countless ski mountaineering and winter Nordic walking destinations. In the area of Acquatona, Specchio di Biancaneve and in front of the entrance to Val Visdende, you can try climbing ice waterfalls.
