Schia (Monte Caio)

The Schia – Monte Caio resort is located in the Italian province of Parma in the Emilia-Romagna region (provincia di Parma regione Emilia-Romagna). There are 13.4 km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. 4 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1202 and 1485 meters above sea level.

Ski resort Schia stretches on the slopes of Monte Cayo in the Apennine mountains of Parma in the municipality of Tizzano Val Parma.

Four lifts serve ski slopes of varying difficulty with forks on both sides and three connections: from Corno di Caneto (1430 m) to Schia (1250 m) and Pian delle Guide (1200 m), where the “black “slopes; from the Costa Grande (1510 m) to Pian della Jara (1180 m) with 5 red runs.

The ski area is equipped with an automatic snowmaking system. At the boot camp, kids can have fun at Skialand, an amusement park that features inflatable games on the snow, sledding slides and more. In the Pian delle Guide, not far from the chair lift station, there is the ParKaio snow park, designed for freestyle lovers, with jumps, boxes, rails and a night lighting system.

On the snows of the Schia-Monte Caio, Alessandro Fattori, one of the best Italian athletes in the rapid disciplines, grew up.

Ski resort Skia – Monte Cayo is the best suited for hiking and off-piste skiing; there are also several cross-country skiing trails here.

Monte Cayo, with its peaks at an altitude of 1200 to 1600 meters above sea level, is one of the most important mountain ranges of the Apennines, rich in panoramic views of rare beauty, such as the San Giovanni ridge or Corno di Caneto.
