Scanno (Monte Rotondo)

The Scanno – Monte Rotondo resort is located in the Italian province of L’Aguila regione Abruzzo. There are 8 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. 4 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports complex is located between 1225 and 1860 meters above sea level.

The town of Scanno is located in the center of the Abruzzo National Park, surrounded by the Marsicani Mountains with the summit of Monte Rotondo and has been declared the most beautiful village in Italy several times.

The ski lifts for the resort start directly from Scanno, making the city one of the few in which cable cars are directly connected to the city.

The surrounding alpine landscapes make you forget that you are in the Apennines. The long chairlift for two starts at 1,018 meters and ends at Colle Rotondo at 1,579 meters above sea level. The lift is equipped with an intermediate station and serves the red Piston – the longest and most beautiful slope in the area, with a length of 3.6 km. When there is enough snow in the mountains, you can slide from the upper station to the lowest to the outskirts of the city.

At high altitude, there are two more lifts: a double in Campo Scuola and a quadruple Monte Rotondo, serving two different and very interesting “red” slopes and the “blue” Panorama.

For cross-country skiers, there is a 5 km circular track in Karapale.

In the winter of 2017-18, only one lift was in operation, serving the Piston track. The rest of the resort is closed for renovations.
