The resort Alto Sangro – Roccaraso/Rivisondoli is located in the province of L’Aguilla in the Italian region of Abruzzo – Provincia dell’Aquila Italia, Abruzzo. There are 90.5 km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. 24 lifts transport skiers to them. The winter sports complex is located between 1309 and 2141 meters above sea level.

Roccaraso is the most popular and equipped ski resort in the Abruzzian Apennines (Appennino abruzzese) – located in the south of the province of L’Aquila. It is part of the Alto Sangro ski area, the seventh most rated ski area in Italy. The proximity of Rome and Naples allows you to combine active recreation with cultural and educational. This is often the best option for a winter vacation in Italy.

Roccaraso has a large selection of slopes, and the combined SkiPass Alto Sangro provides tourists with 150 km of ski slopes of all categories in the ski areas of 4 resorts: Roccaraso, Rivisondoli, Pescoconstanzo, Pescaseroli.

The resort is equipped in a modern way: the recently built Pizzalto-Gravare-Topo del Tesoro high-speed cable car unites ski areas located at different heights into a single system. Since 2017, a new snowmaking plant, the largest in Italy and the third largest in Europe, has been commissioned, which is capable of covering 80 km of tracks with snow.

The system of hotels “ski inn-ski out” is actively developing in Roccaraso, they are located close to the ski lifts, which is important for such resorts. The resort has a great opportunity to ski in country style, enjoying the cleanest air in Italy and stunning landscapes. For this, 60 km of cross-country trails are equipped. An indoor ice rink has also been built in Roccaraso.

The Roccaraso resort has its own complex, consisting of three ski bases, centered around the mountain peaks of the same name: Monte Pratello (2044), Pizzalto (Pizzalto – 1850), Aremogna (1668 m). This complex is located 7 km from Roccaraso and offers a total of 66 slopes.

Aremonha is the lowest of the peaks, with a slight elevation difference, mostly blue slopes. There is a ski school and courses for beginners. Aremogna lifts take advanced skiers to the top of the Toppa del Tesoro (1141 m), from where there are long blue slopes, 1 difficult red and steep black slope.

Pizzalto is a very beautiful and sunniest ski area. The altitude differences are greater here: 300-340 m, red and black slopes prevail, but there is a very interesting, winding three-kilometer blue trail number 64. On this trail you can have a snack in a cozy Paradiso house hidden in the forest.

Instructors for teaching the technique of downhill skiing, snowboarding work here, trained personnel are engaged in children. Snowkite fans often hover over Pizzalto, and the base has become a hub for extreme sports. Monte Pratello is a base for experienced athletes. The elevation difference from the Monte Pratello Rivisondoli lift to the top of the mountain is 700 m. Here, there is a predominance of black and red trails running along the northern slopes of the mountain. From here descends the longest route of the resort – blue No. 45 with a length of 4 km. Continuing the descent along it for 700 m, you can ski down to the resort of Rivisondoli.
