Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei is located in the Austrian East Tyrol – Tirolo Orientale, Tirolo. There are 44.6 km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. 14 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports area is located at an altitude of 1020 to 2422 meters above sea level.

Großglockner Kals-Matrei is the largest ski resort in East Tyrol and offers spectacular views of more than 60 peaks three thousand meters high. During the winter season, the region turns into a Mecca for all athletes – professionals and winter sports enthusiasts. The Großglockner Kals-Matrei Resort is ideal for skiing on perfectly prepared slopes or for exploring the unspoiled Alpine countryside on cross-country skis. Far from mass tourism, there is peace and tranquility in an authentic snow-covered nature. Snow lovers can not only ride the slopes, but also take long walks or sleigh rides.

Total length of tracks 44.6 km. The vertical drop is 1402 meters. The tracks are maintained in good condition by snowmobiles and the efforts of the ski complex workers. Snow cover on the tracks is preserved with snow cannons. In total, the resort has 205 snow cannons that cover 100% of the tracks. The tracks have artificial lighting, which makes them accessible in the evenings. There is a training slope for beginner skiers. Both adults and children can learn to ride on it.

There are tracks of all difficulty levels. There is good communication between easy, medium and difficult slopes, although medium difficulty slopes are the most numerous. Any route offers a unique view of sixty three-thousand-meter peaks, including Austria’s highest mountain, the Großglockner, which is definitely worth a visit.

The longest trail: Cimaross-descent into the valley (with artificial snow), length 7 km, height difference 1450 m.

Most difficult trail: Trail nomeo 12 on Cimaross, 1.8 km long, 450 m vertical drop.

On modern lifts you can get to the ski resort itself from the valley. Within the ski area there are equally modern lifts, including three removable six-seat chairlifts with protective domes and heated seats. Vacationers are taken to the top 18 lifts: 3 gondola lift, 6 chairlift and 5 t-bar lift. There are 4 children’s lifts for beginners and children. The total length of the cable cars is 174 km, which are capable of transporting up to 20891 passengers/hour.
