Resort Kitzsteinhorn/Maiskogel – Kaprun is located in Austria, Salzburg, Zell am See-Kaprun – Salisburghese, Pinzgau. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 61 km of ski slopes and 10.5 km of ski slopes. 21 lifts transport skiers. The winter sports zone is located at an altitude of 768 to 3029 meters above sea level.

The legendary Kitzsteinhorn resort is more than just a glacier resort. It is Austria’s first glacier ski resort. This is an alpine adventure 365 days a year. Surrounded by the highest peaks of Austria, the “mountain adventure” starts from the most impressive side of the highest ski area in Salzburg. Kitzsteinhorn is the only ski resort with a glacier in the Salzburg state.

Total length of tracks 61 km. The vertical drop is 2261 meters. Modern snow-compacting equipment is used on the slope. The surface of the tracks is kept in perfect condition with the help of an artificial snowmaking system. The slopes are illuminated for evening skiing.

The Kitzsteinhorn has trails of all difficulty levels. There are wide and easy slopes descending from the glacier and very steep, almost sheer slopes with difficult terrain. There is a super offer Freeride XXL: 5 freeride routes located near the ski lifts. A snow park, off-piste area and cross-country skiing trails complete the offer.

Longest runs:

  • Gipfel-Langwiedboden, length 5 km, vertical drop 1051 m.
  • Magnetköpfllifte-Langwiedboden Length 7 km, height difference 962 m.

The most difficult track: Black Mamba, 1 km long, 290 m height difference

The most interesting tracks:

  • Slopes from the Kristallbahn (numbers 10 and 12). They are both long, with varied terrain and, thanks to the fast lifts, it is convenient to return to them.
  • Descent Maurergletscher 5b. This piste is classified as “black” but is actually suitable for anyone who is skiing confident and loves speed.

Visitors are lifted up 21 cable cars: 2 aerial tramway, 7 gondola lift, 6 chairlift and 6 t-bar lift. The total length of the cable cars is 316 km, which are capable of transporting up to 41549 passengers/hour.

Modern and powerful structures built into the rocks lead from the valley to the glacier. For technical reasons, skilifts mostly work on the glacier itself. Around the Alpinzentr there are modern chair lifts with protective domes and partially heated seats.

The tallest pylon in the world is number 7, with a height of 113.6 meters.
